Official JoSAA OR-CR files, JAC Delhi regular-round PDFs, CSAB Special tables and BITS final cutoff tables are stored by year and round.
How the data is handled
Published values stay intact; context becomes easier to compare.
The explorer normalizes fields needed for filtering while preserving the cutoff value, programme name, rank basis, counselling system and source boundary that give each row meaning.

Collection
Data enters the site by counselling system

Rows are shaped into institute, programme, quota or region, category, pool, opening value and closing value.
Verify
Record totals, institute coverage, years, rounds and source labels are checked against manifests and representative source rows.
Publish
Only supported hubs, institutions, branches and years receive canonical indexable pages.

Normalization rules
What changes—and what never does

Institute
Canonical display names connect verified rows to institute pages. No unsupported institute is inferred.
Programme
Published names are preserved. Branch pages group related names with the exact included list visible.
Ranks
Numeric strings are normalized for sorting; preparatory values retain the P suffix and are excluded from ordinary numeric trends.
Missing opening value
Remains blank when a source publishes only closing ranks. It is never estimated from another row.
Duplicates
Rows sharing the same institute, programme, quota, category and pool are merged only in interactive loading, using the minimum opening and maximum closing value.
Source overlays
Official JAC regular-round rows supersede legacy secondary rows for the five supported institutes; secondary-only rounds remain visibly labeled.

The number means something different in each system
OPEN uses JEE Advanced CRL; reserved rows use their matching category rank lists

Known limitations
What the explorer does not claim
01Regular JoSAA files in this project cover all 23 IITs and all 31 NITs, but not complete normal JoSAA IIIT or GFTI coverage.
02CSAB IIIT and GFTI records support CSAB Special comparisons only; they are not reused as regular JoSAA institution history.
03Some JAC Delhi source documents provide closing ranks without opening ranks.
04Historical cutoffs cannot guarantee a future allotment, and the Rank Finder is a historical comparison tool rather than a predictive promise.
05BITSAT history uses two maximum-score scales: 450 through 2021 and 390 from 2022 onward.

Questions
Methodology details
Are cutoff values silently corrected?+
No. Source values are preserved. A correction requires a documented source update or a parsing correction and is recorded in the changelog.
Why are filter combinations not indexable pages?+
Temporary filters stay inside canonical product pages. Only curated pages with meaningful server-rendered data enter the sitemap.
How are trend values selected?+
Institution trends match one representative programme and fixed default dimensions across available years. Branch trends use the median closing rank of fixed OPEN, Gender-Neutral dimensions.
